Diya Bari

Diya Bari Uttra is a cultural festival celebrated in parts of South Asia, particularly in Bangladesh and some regions of India. The festival typically takes place during the Hindu month of Kartik (usually in October or November), which coincides with the end of the monsoon season and the beginning of the harvest season.

During Diya Bari Uttra, people decorate their homes with oil lamps (diyas) and colorful rangolis. The festival is characterized by vibrant cultural activities, including traditional music and dance performances, poetry recitations, and religious rituals.

One of the central rituals of Diya Bari Uttra involves lighting diyas and placing them around homes, temples, and other communal spaces. This symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and is believed to bring prosperity and good fortune to the household.

Additionally, special prayers and offerings are made to Hindu deities, particularly to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, and to Ganesh, the remover of obstacles. Families come together to share meals and exchange gifts, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
