Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty stands as an enduring symbol of freedom and democracy, proudly overlooking New York Harbor in the United States. Designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886, this colossal copper statue has since become an iconic representation of liberty and opportunity.
Rising 305 feet (93 meters) from the base to the tip of her torch, Lady Liberty holds a torch aloft in her right hand, symbolizing enlightenment, while her left hand carries a tablet inscribed with the date of the American Declaration of Independence (July 4, 1776). Her flowing robe and crown, adorned with seven spikes representing the seven continents and seas, evoke a sense of grandeur and majesty.
